Ginger Turmeric Lemon Tea

This time of year in particular, has me reaching for this warming, deeply nourishing tea. I love this blend of spices, citrus, and, of course, raw honey.

Turmeric is perhaps the current darling in the spice world. It contains potent, anti-inflammatory properties among other benefits. The main active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin. Highlights of this powerhouse include:

  • immune system support
  • digestion aid
  • joint health
  • regulation of cholesterol levels
  • liver and blood system support
  • adaptogen – meaning that it helps support the body against stress and provides immune system support.
Ginger is no slouch in the health benefits department either. Ginger is also anti-inflammatory and antioxidant rich. Ginger has long been recognized for its beneficial tummy soothing properties.

Lemon, raw honey and cracked black pepper round out the ingredients of this magical elixir. The touch of pepper is said to help with absorption of the turmeric. Plus, it adds a nice spicy kick!

The recipe is for 2 servings. You may wish to alter quantities to suit your taste. This version is fairly strong.
