Hemp Seed Butter with Apple Slices

Hemp Seed Butter

Continuing with our hemp-based theme, I couldn’t resist sharing this recipe with you. I wish I could take credit for this recipe, but full honours go to the talented Judita Wignall. If you’re looking to add more plant-based recipes to your routine, and curious about raw cuisine, I highly recommend her books. “Going Raw” and “Raw and Simple” are two wonderful books overflowing with great recipes and helpful advice.

I recently made this hemp seed butter and absolutely adore it with freshly sliced apples! It would be great as well in the granola recipe from last week, or used in place of other nut/seed butters that you already enjoy.

This took minutes to make and stores well in the fridge.

  • 2 cups hemp seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea or mountain salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive or flaxseed oil (I used hemp oil)
  • 2 – 3 tablespoons liquid sweetener (I used maple syrup, coconut nectar would be great as well)

Process hemp seeds and salt in food processor; then drizzle oil followed by sweetener and blend until it develops a nice, buttery consistency. This will keep for up to two weeks in the refrigerator….if it lasts that long!
